Attractions...
River of Ponds is located on the north-west coast of Newfoundland, Canada. Our province
is well known to be a place where you can enjoy both relaxing or adventurous vacations, as
well as outstanding hunting and fishing. While staying at Riverside Chalets, make sure
that you take in some of the many attractions that the area has to offer. Riverside
Chalets is only 1 hour north of Gros Morne National Park. As you travel to Riverside
Chalets, you have to pass through Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site,
with its many attractions, including Western Brook Fiord. A boat tour through the fiord is
a possibility.
A little over a 2 hour drive away is L'Anse aux Meadows - another UNESCO World Heritage site.
Here you will find the remains of 8 Norse buildings and 3 full scale replicas of these
buildings. See how these early Norse explorers went through daily tasks such as textile
production, food preparation, and wood working.
About 45
minutes south of Riverside Chalets, you will the Arches. The Arches were created, as constant wave action slowed eroded caves through
giant pieces of dolomite. This has resulted in a natural scenic attraction,
which is worth the visit and a relaxing afternoon, while not salmon
fishing.
